Creative, Unnamed Project

This project commenced after Creative began taking an interest in gaming hardware.

It was an blank slate with only a set of drivers for us to build acoustic prototypes with. I was the main designer tasked with kicking off the project. I began by questioning the soundbar configuration and looking at what gamers really need and want. It was really helpful that I am an avid gamer myself and that allowed me to get into the gamer psyche.
The most important problem to address was table real estate and we began by studying the various items present on a gamer’s table. Breaking down the dynamics of how they were placed and understanding their heirarchy. For instance, some gamers preferred laptops and would “dock” once they were home, connecting to their many devices only when back at their table. That created a totally different setup from their desktop counterparts. I played with various scale drawings and came up with as many permutations I could think of while referencing to real scenarios.
It then hit me. Why don't any speakers make full use of that space? Would'nt the ability to conquer the entire area be an advantage? Offering an option to gamers with their various setups. An option of flexibility.
The final concept was an adaptive solution with rubberised details that will be useful for stability in both orientations. With adaptive lighting and a touch sensitive central ring for volume and mic controls. Easy and intuitive to use, in both dark and bright conditions. The project was halted due to limitations.
